Job Description

At Tutor Me Education, we are revolutionizing the way students learn, and we're seeking passionate teachers and tutors with special education experience to provide 1:1 in-home tutoring in Torrance, CA ! About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Torrance, CA !

Details:

  • In-Person Tutoring in Torrance, CA !
  • Schedule: 6 hours per month; 1 day a week for 1.5 hours per session
  • Rate is between $25 and $35 per hour

Ideal Candidate:

  • Valid teaching credential (required)
  • Fluent in Spanish (required)
  • Experience working with high-achieving students with executive functioning and motivation challenges
  • Strong background in second language acquisition (Spanish and/or English)
  • Expertise in Algebra I & II, math word problems, and advanced problem-solving strategies
  • Strong ability to support reading fluency, comprehension, and high-level writing skills
  • Experience teaching science and supporting interdisciplinary academic success
  • Skilled in executive functioning support (organization, task initiation, time management, accountability systems)
  • Familiarity with Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies, especially motivation, depression, and school refusal behaviors
  • Ability to provide structured, consistent, and engaging academic coaching while maintaining firm accountability
  • Comfortable supporting high-ability students who underperform due to motivation and behavioral barriers

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide structured academic tutoring in Spanish, English, Algebra, and other core subjects
  • Support second language acquisition in both academic and practical contexts
  • Deliver instruction in Algebra I & II, math word problems, and advanced math concepts
  • Strengthen reading fluency, comprehension, and analytical reading skills
  • Support writing development, including organization, grammar, structure, and essay composition
  • Reinforce science concepts and cross-curricular understanding as needed
  • Implement executive functioning systems for homework completion, tracking, and accountability
  • Provide consistent monitoring and redirection to reduce avoidance behaviors (e.g., distraction via music)
  • Support SEL needs, including motivation, confidence-building, and emotional regulation strategies
  • Maintain structured sessions with clear expectations, routines, and follow-through systems
  • Incorporate student interests (e.g., soccer, FIFA, international soccer) to build engagement and rapport
  • Communicate regularly with caregivers regarding progress, assignments, and behavioral patterns
