Job Description

About HPSI

High Point Systems Integration (HPSI) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Sheridan, Colorado. We design, install, and maintain full-spectrum low-voltage and physical security systems for government and commercial clients across Colorado and Wyoming. Past performance includes a 222-camera surveillance system at Lackland AFB and a 26-vehicle fleet tracking system at March ARB, along with classified program support. Our tagline — "Precision At Its Peak" — is how we approach every install, whether it's a DoD perimeter or a residential alarm panel.

We're growing, and we're hiring an early-career Low Voltage Technician to learn the trade the right way: on real projects, with experienced mentors, and with a clear path from Tech I → Tech II → Lead.

Position Summary

As a Low Voltage Technician I , you'll work alongside senior technicians and project leads installing and servicing structured cabling, IP video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, and network infrastructure at commercial, government, and residential sites. This is a hands-on, field-based role ideal for someone who is mechanically inclined, dependable, comfortable on a ladder, and excited to build a long-term career in physical security and systems integration.

You don't need years of experience. You do need a strong work ethic, the willingness to learn, and the ability to show up on time ready to work.

What You'll Do

  • Pull, dress, and terminate structured cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, fiber) in commercial and residential environments
  • Install and mount IP cameras, NVRs, switches, access control readers, door hardware, and alarm panels
  • Assist with rack build-outs, patch panel terminations, and cable labeling to industry standards
  • Read and follow floor plans, riser diagrams, and scopes of work
  • Support commissioning and testing — continuity checks, PoE verification, camera focus/aim, basic network troubleshooting
  • Maintain clean, professional job sites and vehicles
  • Document work accurately (photos, as-builts, time tracking)
  • Interact professionally with customers, property managers, and government site representatives
  • Follow safety procedures on every job, every time

What You Need (Required)

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (company vehicle / mileage reimbursement)
  • Ability to pass a federal background check and drug screen (required for government sites)
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Reliable transportation to the Sheridan, CO shop for morning roll-out
  • Able to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders up to 24 ft, work in attics/crawl spaces, and stand for extended periods
  • Basic hand-tool proficiency (drill, level, fish tape, punch-down tool, crimper)
  • Strong communication skills and professional appearance on customer sites
  • Willingness to learn, take direction, and ask questions

Nice to Have (Not Required)

  • Prior experience pulling or terminating low-voltage cable (CCTV, alarm, structured cabling, AV, or residential)
  • Familiarity with Hikvision, Axis, Ubiquiti/UniFi, Aiphone, DMP, Honeywell VISTA, or similar platforms
  • BICSI Installer 1 credential or coursework
  • Electrical or IT coursework (trade school, military MOS, CompTIA Network+, etc.)
  • Experience on federal, DoD, or NDAA-compliant job sites
  • Veterans strongly encouraged to apply

What We Offer

  • Competitive hourly pay ($20–$26/hr DOE) with overtime opportunities
  • Paid time off and paid federal holidays
  • Tool allowance and company-provided test equipment
  • Training and certification reimbursement (BICSI, manufacturer certs, state licensing)
  • Clear advancement path — most of our senior techs started at Tech I
  • Exposure to advanced work most L1 techs never touch: federal installs, NDAA-compliant systems, and integrated security for mission-critical facilities
  • Small-company culture — no corporate bureaucracy, direct access to ownership, your work actually matters

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Field-based role; you will not be sitting at a desk
  • Outdoor and indoor work in varying weather conditions
  • Frequent use of ladders, lifts, and scaffolding
  • Occasional work in attics, crawl spaces, ceiling plenums, and IDF/MDF closets
  • Occasional travel across Colorado and Wyoming, including overnight stays
  • Regular use of PPE (safety glasses, gloves, hard hat when required)

How to Apply

Send your resume to contactus @highpointsi.com with "Low Voltage Tech I" in the subject line. Include a short note about why you're interested in the trade — even a few sentences tells us a lot. A formal cover letter is not required.
