Job Description

The Baltimore Sun is seeking a Digital Content Design Intern to join our Marketing team this summer. This part-time role is a great opportunity for a student looking to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with flexible scheduling. You will play a key role in bringing our brand to life through compelling visual content across digital and print platforms.

In this position, you will contribute to meaningful projects, participate in cross-functional collaboration, and gain valuable exposure to how a media organization operates. This is an opportunity to build your portfolio, sharpen your skills, and learn alongside experienced professionals in a supportive, high-energy environment.

Essential Functions

  • Design and produce creative assets for marketing campaigns, including email, social media, landing pages, and digital display ads
  • Support the creation of print materials, including flyers, promotional pieces, and sales collateral
  • Develop graphics for social media, print publications, website content, and podcasts
  • Assist with advertising client creative and branded content projects
  • Collaborate with marketing, newsroom, and advertising teams to bring ideas to life
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute creative concepts and feedback
  • Ensure all creative aligns with brand guidelines and campaign objectives
  • Manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university program, preferably in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Marketing, or a related field
  • Strong design skills with a portfolio showcasing digital and/or print work
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign required; After Effects or Premiere is a plus)
  • Basic understanding of layout, typography, color, and branding principles
  • Ability to take direction and incorporate feedback
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively
  • Interest in media, journalism, communications or marketing is a plus but not required
  • This is a part-time internship (20–30 hours per week)
