Business Developer (Landscape & Commercial Construction)

Position Overview

We are seeking a results-driven Business Developer to grow our landscape and commercial construction business. This role combines client relationship development, strategic sales, and project coordination to secure new opportunities and expand revenue streams. You will work closely with estimating and operations teams to develop competitive proposals, nurture strategic partnerships, and drive business initiatives that align with company goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute business development strategies to generate qualified leads and close new landscape and commercial construction projects
• Identify, pursue, and cultivate relationships with commercial property owners, general contractors, architects, municipalities, and landscape architects
• Prepare and present compelling proposals, bids, and presentations tailored to client needs, including scope, pricing, and value propositions
• Collaborate with estimating, operations, and project management teams to ensure proposals are feasible, profitable, and deliverable
• Manage the sales pipeline using CRM tools, track opportunities, forecast revenue, and report on business performance
• Attend industry events, trade shows, and meetings to network and promote company capabilities
• Coordinate with MEP and irrigation specialists to incorporate technical requirements and integrated solutions into proposals when required
• Work with marketing to develop targeted campaigns, case studies, and materials that support lead generation and brand awareness
• Negotiate contract terms and scope with clients and subcontractors in coordination with senior leadership and legal when necessary
• Provide market feedback and competitive intelligence to inform pricing, service offerings, and business strategy

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in business development within landscape construction, commercial construction, or a closely related field (typically 5+ years)
• Proven track record of winning commercial construction or landscape projects and managing client relationships through the sales cycle
• Strong understanding of landscape construction processes, materials, scheduling, and cost drivers
• Experience collaborating with estimating, operations, and technical teams to produce accurate proposals
• Familiarity with MEP and irrigation systems preferred; ability to coordinate technical scopes with specialists
• Sales and marketing experience a pluscomfortable delivering presentations and supporting marketing initiatives
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
• Proficient with CRM software, MS Office, and proposal/document management tools
• Bachelors degree in Business, Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, or related discipline preferred, or equivalent relevant experience
• Valid drivers license and willingness to travel to client meetings and project sites as required
